Its shore lies at the end of a long, lush valley with towering green mountains on both sides. The river Stórá runs through the middle, splitting the village in two. Only 23 people inhabit Elduvík, which has a peaceful atmosphere and soothing natural surroundings. Back in the center of the thriving and compact city of Bergen, spend time strolling along its cobblestone streets and alleyways. Drop into one of the many cafés or pubs and order a half-liter of local Hansa beer.

Visit the local museums and travel back in time to learn about the city’s origins or to better understand the flora, fauna, and geology of the Faroe Islands. After embarkation and check in, you’ll have time to settle in to your cabin. Everyone must go through a mandatory safety drill just before departure. The welcome dinner in the evening ends with a toast by the captain, who will wish everyone an enjoyable expedition.
Over the next two days, we’ll attempt several exciting landings in different parts of the archipelago. You won’t see land mammals here, but the island is designated an Important Bird Area, supporting large populations of northern fulmars, Brünnich’s guillemots and little auks. Look out for abundant marine life in the surrounding waters, including whales and seals. Our springtime adventure starts in Bergen, Norway before sailing to Lerwick in the Shetland Islands of Scotland. From there, we travel to the green Faroe Islands, then cross to the north coast of Iceland.
The city is famed for its forty-five parks, gardens, and floral displays. Though it is now a modern city, Aberdeen retains its old world charm. This expedition charts a course unlike any other on Earth, following the Viking voyages from the north of Scotland to the Faroe Islands and onward to Iceland. To the back of Deck 4, you will find a 260 m² panoramic restaurant which can accommodate all of our passengers in a single sitting.
It’s the world’s northernmost active volcano, which last erupted in 1985. Jan Mayen has no permanent residents and visits to the island are rare. If conditions allow, you’ll set foot in one of Earth’s most remote places.
We’ll take advantage of every opportunity to land, taking small boats (RIBs) ashore for hiking and other activities. If we can, we’ll launch our kayaks to enjoy the scenery in almost perfect silence. Spend the day relaxing as we sail deeper into the Arctic toward the Svalbard archipelago.
